The Central Bobcats defeat the Oak Ridge Wildcats in the district Tournament to bring home some gold for the first time in 22 Years! The Cats road to the gold wasn’t easy, nor is it fully over. They now have their eyes on the region tournament and hopefully the State tournament.
The Cats started their post-season in a blazing victory beating Campbell County 12-2, then traveling to Powell the Cats took the win in a hard fought game winning 2-1 against the region rival, the final stop on the way to the District championship was their first game against Oak Ridge where the Cats won 5-3 in a nail-biting game, clinching their ticket to the championship game.

In the championship game things stayed steady at 0-0 until the inning 5, with tension high the Wildcat pitcher tries to throw the runner out at second base but the ball went way over the baseman head sending #22 Waylon Perry and #7 Kaylin Chesney. On the mound pitchers Cole Wessel and Miles Johnson shut the Wildcats out with 12 K’s and no wildcats touching home plate.

In a post game interview first baseman Tre Lyons said, “I predicted it before the season that we would win District (In the pre-season baseball article) and it came true, right now we are just focused on one thing at a time and next is Region.” Short-stop and recent ETSU commit Andrew Hill stated, “It felt amazing winning and doing what hasn’t been done since 2001, I love coach Roberts and what he has done for our program. Next we have to face another great team in Farragut and I am ready to go out and perform!”
If you want to witness this great team they are hosting the Region tournament at Tommy Shumpert field as they face the Farragut Admirals in the first round.
