Each year, Vans holds a contest in which they select 250 schools to design two pairs of shoes on two topics with a grand prize of $50,000. This year, the topics were “Hometown pride” and “VanD(IY)oren Legacy” after Vans co-founder Paul Van Doren, who passed away last year on May 6.

There are lots of writings and drawings on the bathroom walls of Central. It’s so common that many people forget it’s a crime. Marking a public space by drawing on it without permission is considered vandalism.

During the month of March, many Central students took part in speaking to the fifth graders attending Inskip Elementary School. The goal of these talks was to encourage and inspire them and also provide insight to what middle school and high school is like.

Get your dancing shoes ready because this year’s prom is being held at the On Broadway Event Center on April 16 from 7-10 p.m. Tickets are being sold in Ms. Dorsey’s room 121 at all lunches during the week of February 22 for seniors, and tickets will go on sale for juniors during the week of February 28.

Tuesday, March 1 consists of many things, such as the ACT for juniors, a field trip for freshmen, pre-ACT for sophomores, and community service day for seniors. All students testing on campus that day are encouraged to bring a parent note for early dismissal.
