Lindasiah Clegg: Learning to Adapt Prepares New Bobcat for High School Life

Freshman Bobcat Times staff member Lindasiah Clegg is focused on building a healthy balance of work, play, and family time as she adjusts to her first year at Central High School.

Kind and soft-spoken, Lindasiah Clegg has moved around frequently during her early childhood. She resided in North Carolina for a year and has lived in different areas of Knoxville during her elementary and middle school years.

Clegg described how moving around a lot can be burdensome but over the years she has developed a strategy to adjust to such change.

“(Moving frequently) affected me because it takes me a while to get comfortable with people,” said Clegg.” I grew up in Knoxville but I lived in North Carolina for almost a year when I was 11.”

Support from her family has helped her to adjust to those life transitions and the challenges of the increased academic stress of high school. Learning to adapt has been a valuable lesson in Lindasiah’s life.

Clegg explains, “The hardest thing about being a student is having so much work to do every day and getting it done on time. I just do my work at school so I have free time at home. The easiest thing about being a student is learning.”

The CHS freshman makes sure to complete all her work while at school so that she has all her at-home time to do as she pleases. Getting everything done during school hours isn’t easy but she manages it well. After graduation, Clegg plans to become a pediatrician. The path to a pediatrician career could potentially be challenging but fortunately, she has amazing support from her grandmother.

When not at school she says she feels more comfortable talking and being social without the anxiety of overcrowded hallways and noisy classrooms. But when she’s not focusing on academics she likes to go out to the mall on weekends and sometimes to church on Sundays. At home, Clegg enjoys spending time with her grandmother and watching her favorite television shows.

Clegg says, “My favorite person is my grandmother because I’ve always felt the most comfortable around her. I also like watching my favorite TV show, Grey’s Anatomy. I also like going to the mall on weekends.”

There are many special things that make up Lindasiah Clegg. Her life is a stable mix of family, school, and home life and she is very excited to see where the future takes her.

  1. This article told me about two students who are learning to solve their problems through perserverance and mutual support – the author, Miss Silcox, and her featured Bobcat, Miss Clegg. . I hope they both continue to communicate with each other and the rest of the student body to strengthen their school, communities, and families. Wonderful article!
