Kate Taylor: New Neighborhood, New Experiences.

Kate Taylor is a senior at Central High School. She moved around a lot in her childhood but it has taught her many things. Kate enjoys hanging out with her friends and family, taking hard classes, and helping with theater.

Kate is a very hardworking and determined person. She takes AP classes, honors classes, and is going to apply early to college. She prioritizes school because she sets high expectations for herself and pushes herself, “As students we are told that you need to do good in school or you won’t get into a good college, which I don’t think is necessarily true.”

Kate was born in South Carolina, at 12 moved to North Carolina and lived there for 3 years, then moved to Tennessee. Moving around at a young age can be hard and Kate felt like she had to leave family and friends behind. Aside from the flaws, Kate believes that moving around taught her to be her true self and speak up for herself. She experienced lots of new things, grew as a person, and met new people.

A mother who plays both roles can teach someone a ton, Kate’s mom is her role model. She taught her to, cook, clean, do laundry, and even be independent. Kate has social anxiety and it is tough for her to open up to people, she is compassionate and empathetic but also a little indecisive about her future. Her ideas of a career path were: a teacher or job with kids, working with the government, but mainly a job to financially support herself.

Kate can’t skate, doesn’t like to bowl, doesn’t like disrespectful people, and hates the sounds of a fork on a metal bowl. In Kate’s life, she has a big family a dog named Darby, and a cat named Finn. Kate’s favorite book is “We Were Liars,” her favorite movie is “My Cousin Vinnie,” her favorite food is pasta, her favorite music genre is folk/indie pop, she likes to dress comfortably/boho, and likes The Lumineers.
