Working through the weeks and making sure there are no slip-ups are directors Madison Hicks and Bethany Lay. Both Mrs. Hicks and Mrs. Lay have worked to get the best play and best resemblance to the original musical as they could.
“Les Mis” is a musical based on a French historical novel about a man named Jean Valjean. Jean is an ex-convict in the 19th century and the musical tells his story after prison and how he changed. The main theme to the musical is social injustice.
The cast of “Les Mis” auditioned in the fall of 2023. “Students were asked to prepare a dramatic monologue and one minute of a classic musical theatre song,” stage manager and junior at Central Ayla Littell said. “We work to feature every student who auditions for a bigger part!” Most of the character in the musical are victims of social injustice and aren’t able to speak up for themselves.
As rehearsals come to an end, all the cast come together the last week before the musical and practice the whole show one last time to last-minute changes before the play is shown to a live audience.
Students playing the main characters will be:
Aidan Simmons – Jean Valjean
Grace Bunnell – Fantine
Sarah Verneuil – Cosette
Logan Sidoti – Javert

Stage manager Ayla Littell and the cast have worked so hard to make the musical as realistic as possible. Central teachers and students alike can look forward to seeing “Les Mis” beginning May 4
