Senior Sammy Long, a beloved student, teammate and friend received his acceptance letter to The University Of Tennessee through their Future Program on Thursday, April 21.

Long arrived at school Thursday morning expecting to work out in his first block class. Instead, he walked into a surprise ceremony with all of his friends and family present to congratulate and support him for being able to make it to the next level of education.

Long enjoyed his time at Central and being a Bobcat and even said, “I’m going to miss all of the seniors and rising seniors” talking to his teammates and friends in attendance.
Long got accepted through “FUTURE,” a post-secondary educational program that helps young-adults with learning or developmental disabilities make a successful and smooth transition from high school to adult life. Through this program, they can become an intern on or off of UT’s campus.
Head football coach and teacher Nick Craney said, “I am extremely exited and proud of Sammy for being accepted into the University of Tennessee Future Program… He is a young man that brings excitement and joy to his endeavors & his peers everyday. We are all exited to see the great things he will do at UT & beyond!”
