Beyond The Voice: Mikayla Maldonado

A passionate person with an angelic voice, Mikayla Maldonado is an approachable, lively person. At the end of her chapter at high school, Mikayla is preparing for what is next.

Mikayla, a senior at Central High School, takes part in extracurricular activities and organizations within school and the community. Within the walls of Central, Mikayla is heavily involved with Bobcat Company. What once started with seeing a performance of 42nd Street and loving choir has turned into being the lead of the 2022 spring musical: High School Musical. In the community, Mikayla is a part of the worship team at her church, Fellowship North.

High school is a big part of finding out who you are and learning skills for the future. For Mikayla, her senior year has been going well and she feels comfortable. When asked what her favorite memory of high school is she noted,“My favorite memory from high school would have to be when we were able to put on our production of Once on This Island. It was truly the best experience I have ever had at Central!” From the experience of the production, Mikayla expressed that she “gained so many amazing friendships and learned how to work well with others.”

Spending time with her family and friends is important to Mikayla. Every Friday, Mikayla and her family like to go to a new restaurant. When she is not with her family, she enjoys going to the local coffee shops and food places. Two of her favorite places to go are K Brew and Balter. If Mikayla had extra time for activities, she would spend it traveling or learning the guitar. As of right now, vocal lessons are what Mikayla is taking. She currently does not work anywhere but if she were to work she said, “I think it would be super fun to work at a local boutique or coffee shop though!”

Planning for the future, because it is senior year, Mikayla will go to college, though she is unsure of which one she will attend. Although she doesn’t know where she will attend college, she does know what she wants to major in. Mikayla plans to major in Music Performance or Sociology. As the senior year is almost over, Mikayla looks back and describes her final year so far as “awesome” and the “most fun.”

Mikayla Maldonado has more to her than a beautiful voice. She is full of life and cares for her family and friends. She has plans for the future and she is very involved within Central and the community. Mikayla is a wonderful person who brings smiles to whoever she encounters.
