Venom is the most recent movie spawned from the Marvel Comic Book Universe In it, we see Tom Hardy portraying the character of Eddie Brock, and his symbiote, Venom. Brock works as a journalist who, while investigating a science experiment, is merged with an alien symbiote. It gives him superhuman strength and many other abilities, which he struggles to control throughout the film.
Overall, I enjoyed every minute of the film. Some recent more negative reviews simply don’t do the film justice. It doesn’t necessarily stand out from other movies in the genre, but that doesn’t make it a bad film.

However, one thing I will say is that it could have been better if it had kept its original R rating. This is due to the fact that, in the comics, Venom is more of a dark, violent character. Examples of this would be how he killed innocent people and eventually drove his ex-wife to take her own life. They significantly toned down those aspects of him in the PG-13 release. I can understand why they would do this, most likely to make it available to a wider age group and make the most money possible, but in my opinion this decision detracted from the depth and authenticity not only of the character, but the movie as a whole.

I would recommend this movie to pretty much anyone, especially those who are fans of the character and those who enjoy Marvel movies in general. Although, I may be somewhat biased because of the fact that I already enjoy most Marvel films.
