Game 2 Recap: Central vs Fulton

The sold out crowd hummed with excitement and anticipation. Fulton won in the Battle of Broadway against Central 18-9 in Thursday night’s game hosted at Central.

In the first quarter, The score remained 0-0 through tight defense on both sides of the field. With the ball mainly in Fulton’s possession, the Bobcats never let them score. Central’s defense featured seniors Demetrien Johnson, Philip Young, Jakobi Troutman, Jaylnn Clemons, Daunte Holliday, and Xavier Washington. They stopped Fulton three times in the red zone.

Through the second quarter, the ball went back and forth between the two teams and no touchdowns were made. Halfway through the second quarter, the Bobcats capitalized on good field position and were able to put the first points on the board. Sophomore kicker, Jarred Swislosky, was successful in his attempt putting Central ahead 3-0 at the half.

After a half time break, the Bobcats came back ready to fight. With a few minutes left in the third, the Falcons scored a Touchdown on a swing pass, following the touchdown the Bobcats blocked the extra point making the score 6-3. Fulton then scored on an interception return from a tipped ball by the Bobcat offense. Fulton now lead 12-3 at the end of the third quarter.

As the team, coaches, players and fans got excited about the fourth quarter, it was time for the last quarter of the game. Junior, Braden Gaston ran his way in for Central from one yard line, to put them back on the board only down 12-9. Following the touchdown by Central, Fulton made a touchdown on a long pass making the score 18-9 in the mid fourth quarter.

Senior Xavier Washington stated after the game, “We played our hearts out, but we fell short. We got some respect last night from everyone who doubted us from TN high, and Fulton. Overall, I think we got our mojo back as a team.” The final score was 18-9 in favor of the Falcons.

The Bobcats will hit the road next week, for their first region game, against Sevier County. The game starts at 7:30!
